Service agreement
Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of Reverb, including accounts, records, search, subscriptions, and support.
Mandatory consumer rights under applicable law continue to apply.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Reverb, including its mobile applications, website, cloud storage, restoration, natural-language search, subscription, and support features (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Kosuke Ota, a sole proprietor in Japan trading as Takotech (the “Operator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating a Reverb account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You may use the Service only if you are at least 16 years old and can legally agree to these Terms under the law that applies to you. You may not use the Service if you are under 16 or where applicable law otherwise prohibits it.
3. The Service
After signing in to a Reverb account, you can record short text notes, attach up to one supported photo to a note that contains text, view records in a chronological timeline, and retrieve original records using natural-language search.
The current Free plan includes cloud storage, restoration on another signed-in device, and five server-accepted natural-language searches in each UTC calendar month. Once accepted, a search counts even if it returns no results, uses text-search fallback, or later fails; a request rejected before acceptance does not count. Reverb Pro includes unlimited searches. Cloud storage and restoration are not conditioned on a Pro entitlement. Multiple devices may use the same account at the same time. Restoration covers records that reached cloud storage; records still waiting to upload remain only on the device where they were created and cannot be restored from another device if that device is lost. Reasonable security, technical, and anti-abuse rate limits may still apply. The benefits shown in the Service immediately before purchase are the benefits that apply to that purchase.
AI-powered meaning search requires a separate, explicit choice to allow Reverb to send record text and search text to OpenAI as described in the Privacy Policy. Declining or withdrawing that permission does not prevent cloud storage, restoration, viewing, or deletion of records. It makes meaning search unavailable until permission is granted again.
4. Accounts and security
Use the authentication methods shown in the Service. You must provide accurate information, keep control of your email account, device, provider account, password, and authentication codes, and not lend, sell, transfer, or share a Reverb account. Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been used without authorization.
If you forget your email sign-in password, you can set a new one after verification through your registered email address. We cannot retrieve your existing password. We may be unable to restore access if you lose the authentication method associated with your account. We will not ask you to disclose your password or a one-time authentication code outside the authentication flow.
5. Your content
“User Content” means notes and other material you submit to or store through the Service. You retain your rights in User Content. We do not acquire ownership of it.
To provide cloud storage, restoration, search, security, maintenance, and support, comply with law, and handle content as described in the Privacy Policy, you allow us to host, copy, transmit, cache, format, and technically process User Content and technical representations derived from it, only to the extent reasonably necessary for those purposes. This permission is non-exclusive (you remain free to use your content), worldwide (processing may take place across borders), and royalty-free (we do not pay a separate fee for this processing). It ends when the content is deleted, except for temporary or legally required retention described in that policy.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit User Content. Keep an independent copy of information whose loss would cause serious harm; the Service is not a substitute for your own backup.
6. Reverb intellectual property and license
The software, design, trademarks, documentation, and other Service materials other than User Content are owned by us or their respective rights holders. You may install and use the application for its intended purpose while you comply with these Terms. This permission is personal, limited, non-exclusive, and cannot be transferred to another person; it may end when your right to use the Service ends under these Terms. Software and materials belonging to third parties remain subject to the conditions set by their respective rights holders.
For an iOS application obtained through the App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the application license unless a custom EULA is presented through App Store Connect. These Terms separately govern the Reverb service.
7. Prohibited uses
- Violating applicable law or another person’s rights.
- Submitting material you do not have the right to use, or using the Service to harass, threaten, exploit, defraud, or harm another person.
- Uploading malware or attempting unauthorized access to an account, system, or network.
- Bypassing authentication, purchase checks, rate limits, security controls, or deletion controls.
- Reverse engineering or extracting source code except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Scraping, reselling, sublicensing, or using the Service to provide a service to third parties without our permission. This does not prohibit using Reverb for your own work notes or information management.
- Interfering with the Service or using excessive automation or requests in a way that materially affects other users.
- Impersonating another person or misrepresenting your relationship with us.
8. Subscriptions and free trials
Reverb Pro offers automatically renewing Monthly and Yearly subscriptions. Both unlock the same Reverb Pro entitlement. The localized price, currency, taxes, billing period, trial eligibility, and benefits displayed by the purchase provider before confirmation apply to your purchase.
Monthly renews for successive one-month periods. Yearly renews for successive one-year periods. Eligible new Yearly subscribers may be offered a seven-day free trial. Monthly does not include a free trial. If an eligible Yearly trial is not canceled before the deadline shown by the purchase provider, the displayed yearly amount is charged and the subscription renews automatically.
Do not purchase a second subscription through another provider while one is active. Check the subscription status in Reverb or contact Support if you are unsure. Web subscriptions are not currently offered; separate checkout terms will apply if web purchasing is introduced.
A Reverb price change applies to new subscriptions. Existing active subscribers remain on their prior price. If we ever change that treatment, we will provide advance notice and obtain consent where required by the purchase provider or applicable law.
9. Cancellation and refunds
Manage or cancel an App Store purchase through Apple’s subscription management. Manage or cancel a Google Play purchase through Google Play’s Subscription Center.
Uninstalling Reverb or deleting your Reverb account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
Unless the purchase provider or applicable law provides otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal and takes effect at the end of the current paid period. It does not itself create a refund or prorated credit. App Store refund requests are handled by Apple. Google Play refund requests are handled under Google Play’s applicable process and policies. Reverb will provide assistance where the provider directs you to us.
Except where applicable law, the purchase provider’s rules, or an express purchase term requires otherwise, paid fees are non-refundable and no prorated credit is provided for a partially used period. Nothing in this section limits a mandatory consumer right.
10. Account deletion
While online and signed in with a valid session, you may select Delete account in Reverb Settings to request irreversible account deletion. Reverb treats the request as accepted only after the server records it. After acceptance, the requesting device signs out and removes local data for the target account. If Reverb cannot confirm acceptance, the requesting device keeps that local data and lets you check the same request again.
After acceptance, the account cannot be used again. Deletion of related server data continues and may take time to complete. If you cannot access the application, you may start an external deletion request by emailing Reverb Support. The Operator replies manually and may require reasonable verification through the email address associated with the account to prevent unauthorized deletion. Subject to the retention described in the Privacy Policy, deletion removes Reverb account and authentication records, cloud-stored notes and derived search indexes, the Reverb-side purchase profile, and identified product-analytics data.
Store transaction records, records required by law, limited security records, temporary backups, and information controlled by a purchase provider may remain for their applicable periods. Other devices are signed out and their account data is locked when they reconnect; their local copies are not remotely erased. To erase one, clear Reverb’s app data with operating-system controls where available, remove Reverb, or erase the device.
11. External services
The Service relies on third parties for infrastructure, authentication, storage, email, search, analytics, subscriptions, payment, and app distribution. Their availability and processing may be subject to their terms and policies. Apple and Google control transactions made through their stores, including certain billing, tax, cancellation, and refund decisions. They do not provide or endorse Reverb itself.
12. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains the information we collect, how record and search content is processed, the providers involved, retention, international processing, analytics choices, and deletion rights.
13. Suspension and termination
We may reasonably restrict or suspend an affected feature or account because of a material or repeated breach, unlawful conduct, fraud, a security threat, nonpayment, a valid legal request, or conduct that materially harms the Service or another person. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Immediate action may be taken when needed for security, legal compliance, harm prevention, or preservation of the Service.
A payment failure may restrict Reverb Pro features but does not by itself authorize deletion of your notes. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time.
14. Changes, maintenance, and discontinuation
We may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service for product, security, technical, legal, third-party-service, or business reasons. For a planned discontinuation of the Service, we will ordinarily give at least 30 days’ advance notice, stop new purchases and renewals in advance, and allow users to view and retrieve their records until the stated end date. Record text, photos, and derived search data in the normal production environment will be deleted within 30 days after that date. If a paid period extends beyond the end date, refunds or credits will be handled under applicable law and the purchase provider’s rules. Advance notice may not be possible in an emergency or where law, security, or circumstances outside our reasonable control require immediate action.
15. Warranties
We will provide the Service with the care required by applicable law. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, or that every record and search result will be complete or recoverable. Nothing in these Terms excludes an express promise made at purchase or a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
16. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where liability cannot be limited, or another liability or consumer right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
If our ordinary negligence causes you loss, our liability is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to direct and ordinary loss. This limitation does not apply to willful misconduct, gross negligence, or another case in which applicable law does not permit the limitation.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms where the change is in users’ general interest, or where it does not conflict with the purpose of the agreement and is reasonable in light of the need for the change, the appropriateness of the revised terms, and the surrounding circumstances. Before the change takes effect, we will publish notice of the change, the revised Terms, and the effective date through the Service or on our website. We will provide a reasonable advance-notice period for a material change and obtain consent where required by law.
If you do not agree, you may stop using the Service, cancel future subscription renewal, and request account deletion before the change takes effect.
18. Governing law, general terms, and contact
These Terms are governed by Japanese law. Disputes relating to the Service will be handled by a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law. This does not remove mandatory consumer rights or a mandatory forum available under the law where you live.
If part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the terms shown at purchase, and applicable store terms govern Reverb. Store terms control only matters managed by the store, such as processing a transaction or deciding a store refund.
